Current status
On Thursday 22 November, North Yorkshire County Council's Scrutiny of Health Committee confirmed it was referring the CCG's proposals and make a decision whether to refer the plans to the Independent Reconfiguration Panel (IRP) for further review, or give the CCG the go ahead to start the public consultation.
The CCG's formal response to the referral can be found below.
Dr Vicky Pleydell, Clinical Chief Officer (designate) at NHS Hambleton, Richmondhsire and Whitby CCG said: "We understand the Overview and Scrutiny Committee's (OSC) decision to refer The Friarage proposals to the Secretary of State, and we look forward to hearing his feedback and will support the OSC in moving this forward at a pace."
"We want to ensure that the hospital continues to be a vibrant part of the local community, providing the highest levels of safe and quality health care, both today and for future generations to come".
"In the meantime we will continue to work with the OSC, partners and the public to ensure they understand the ongoing issues faced at The Friarage for maternity and children's services and the options for consideration to resolve them."
